The Effect of Glenohumeral Joint Injection Prior to Physical Therapy on Treatment Outcomes in Adhesive Capsulitis

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate whether ultrasound-guided intraarticular (IA) glenohumeral injection applied before physical therapy and exercise program (PTETP) contributes the treatment outcomes in patients with adhesive capsulitis shoulder (ACS). Methods: medical records 93 diagnosed ACS who underwent same modalities five sessions per week for three weeks (consisted superficial heating (infrared), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound) between October 1, 2019–March 2020 were retrospectively evaluated. A total 41 met inclusion exclusion criteria divided into two groups terms application. Patients ultrasound guided IA injections PTETP considered “injection patients” (n=19), while other “non-injection (n=22). active passive range motion (ROM), severity pain, degrees pain disability affected shoulders assessed at baseline (day 0) end 21). Results: Physical used had a positive effect on scores, ROM, scores weeks. It determined that prior daytime nighttime but did not provide additional benefit ROM or disability. Conclusion:Ultrasound-guided may be beneficial predominant symptoms pain.
